CNPC and Sinopec Group enter top 10 on Fortune’s Global 500

Guangzhou (JLC), August 3, 2023 – CNPC and Sinopec Group ranked 5th and 6th respectively on Fortune Magazine's 2023 “Global 500” published on August 2, according to Fortune’s website.

 

Companies were ranked by revenue for their respective fiscal year ended on or before March 31, 2023, Fortune said on its website.

 

Walmart remained No. 1 for the 10th consecutive year, while Saudi Aramco, which saw a 51% year-on-year spike in revenue, claimed the No. 2 spot.

Meanwhile, state-owned giants Sinochem Holdings and CNOOC ranked 38th and 42nd, respectively.

 

Integrated refining-chemicals companies Hengli Group and Zhejiang Rongsheng Holding Group marched into top 150, ranking 123rd and 136th, respectively.

A total of 142 Chinese companies (including those in China Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao) made the list, with a total revenue exceeding USD11.7 trillion in the 2022-2023 fiscal year, Fortune said.

 

About 22 of them are in oil and gas, chemical or energy sectors (not including nuclear energy or solar photovoltaic), with a combined revenue of about USD2.40 trillion in the fiscal year.
