China's industrial profits down 0.3% in first two months

Guangzhou (JLC), March 27, 2025--Profits of China's major industrial firms decreased 0.3% year on year in the first two months of 2025, data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) showed Thursday.

 

The decline slowed from a 3.0% drop in the whole of 2024.

 

Industrial firms with an annual main business revenue of at least 20 million yuan (about 2.79 million US dollars) saw their combined profits reach 910.99 billion yuan in January-February 2025.

 

Specifically, China reaped profits of 639.51 billion yuan from the manufacturing industry and 130.45 billion yuan in the electricity, heat, gas and water production and supply industry in the two months, up 4.8% and 13.5% from a year before, the NBS data indicated. On the contrary, profits from the mining industry fell 25.2% to 141.03 billion yuan.

 

Meanwhile, the combined business revenue of Chinas major industrial firms rose 2.8% year on year to 20.09 trillion yuan in January-February 2025, the data also showed.
