Guangzhou (JLC), July 9, 2025--China's consumer price index (CPI), a main gauge of inflation, grew by 0.1% year on year in June, versus a drop of 0.1% in May, according to data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).
The rally was ascribed to the country’s policies aimed at boosting consumption.
The core CPI, which excludes food and energy prices, rose by 0.7% from a year before, speeding from an increase of 0.6% in the previous month.
On a month-on-month comparison, the CPI slipped by 0.1% last month, slowing down from a fall of 0.2% in May, the NBS data indicates.
In the first six months, the CPI was down 0.1% from a year earlier, the NBS data shows.
In contrast, China's producer price index (PPI), which measures factory-gate goods prices, fell by 3.6% year on year or 0.4% month on month in June, the NBS data also shows.
In January-June, the PPI dropped by 2.8% from the same months last year.
