Guangzhou (JLC), August 12, 2025--China's consumer price index (CPI), a main gauge of inflation, remained unchanged on a year-on-year basis in July 2025, versus a growth of 0.1% in June, according to data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).
Relatively low food prices kept the CPI unchanged on a yearly basis, the chief statistician from the NBS said on August 9.
The core CPI in the month, deducting food and energy prices, rose by 0.8% year on year, accelerating from an increase of 0.7% in the previous month.
On a month-on-month comparison, the CPI in July climbed by 0.4%, the NBS data shows. The gain was mainly because of higher prices for services and industrial consumer goods.
In the first seven months of 2025, the CPI decreased by 0.1% from the same period of time in 2024.
Meanwhile, China's producer price index (PPI), which measures costs for goods at the factory gate, went down by 3.6% year on year and by 0.2% month on month in July, the NBS data indicates.
In January-July, the PPI declined by 2.9% from the same months last year.
