Guangzhou (JLC), September 23, 2025--Guangdong Province raised its wind emergency response to Level I on Tuesday morning, with multiple cities announcing a series of suspension measures, as super typhoon Ragasa draws near.
Typhoon Ragasa, the 18th typhoon of this year and one of the strongest ones in years, is expected to make landfall along the central or western coastal areas of the province on Wednesday, China's National Meteorological Center said.
Meteorologists predict the typhoon will move west-northwest at 20-25 km/h, bringing strong winds and heavy rainfalls to the northern area of the South China Sea and the coastal areas of southern China.
To ensure the safety of local residents, over 12 cities in Guangdong Province will suspend public transport, school, work, production, and business operation starting September 23.
As of Tuesday noon, Guangdong Province has evacuated 371,644 people, according to the Department of Emergency Management of Guangdong Province. In the meantime, 80,231 fishing boats have been secured in ports, and 12,246 offshore workers have returned to land.
