Guangzhou (JLC), October 16, 2025--China’s border entries and exits reached 178 million trips in the third quarter, rising 12.9% year-on-year, according to data released by the National Immigration Administration (NIA) on Thursday.
Chinese mainland residents accounted for 89.37 million trips, up 13.8% from a year earlier, while travel by residents from Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan increased 6.2% to 68.73 million trips.
Foreign nationals made 20.13 million border crossings, a jump of 22.3% from a year earlier. Thanks to China's continuously optimized visa-free policies, visa-free arrivals surged 48.3% year-on-year to 7.25 million, representing 72.2% of all foreign entries, the NIA data indicated.
The NIA's 12367 service platform handled 1.98 million inquiries from over 100 countries and regions, maintaining a 99.48% satisfaction rate, the NIA data also showed.
In the first three quarters of the year, the total number of border entries and exits reached 510 million, up 14.3% from the same period last year and approaching a historical peak.
