Guangzhou (JLC), November 19, 2025--China had 18.645 million charging piles as of end-October, surging by 54.0% year on year, according to data released by the National Energy Administration (NEA) on November 19.
Specifically, public charging points reached 4.533 million, increasing by 39.5% year-on-year, while private facilities grew faster, rising by 59.4% to 14.112 million points, the data indicates.
The expansion of charging infrastructure is supported by macro policies and growing demand for new energy vehicles (NEVs) and is also seen as crucial to maintaining consumer confidence.
China aims to build over 28 million charging facilities by the end of 2027 to meet the charging demand of more than 80 million EVs, according to an action plan issued by the National Development and Reform Commission and five other ministries on September 24.
