Guangzhou (JLC), October 27, 2026--Profits of China's major industrial firms soared by 15.5% year on year in the first three quarters of 2026, data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) showed on Tuesday.

Industrial firms with an annual main business revenue of at least 20 million yuan (about 2.98 million US dollars) saw their combined profits reach roughly 6.03 trillion yuan in January-September.

Specifically, China reaped profits of 4.57 trillion yuan in the manufacturing industry and 881.37 billion yuan in the mining industry, jumping by 17.0% and 38.2% year on year, respectively. In contrast, the profits in the electricity, heat, gas, and water production and supply industry tumbled by 14.3% to 578.56 billion yuan.

The electronics industry emerged as a key growth driver, with profits doubling from a year earlier and contributing 9.6 percentage points to the overall increase in industrial profits, according to Yu Weining, a chief statistician at the NBS.

Meanwhile, profits in high-tech manufacturing leapt by 52.0% year on year, outpacing the overall industrial average by 36.5 percentage points, as demand in areas such as AI computing power and data center infrastructure continued to expand.
