Guangzhou (JLC), June 9, 2026--China's total export and import values both rose significantly in May, the General Administration of Customs of the PRC (GACC) said, releasing the latest data on June 9.
With the export and import values combined, China recorded USD648.13 billion in May, up 22.6% from a year before, or 2.3% from April this year.
The country's export value reached USD376.78 billion in the month, representing a year-on-year surge of 19.4% and a month-on-month climb of 4.9%.
Meanwhile, its import value skyrocketed to USD271.35 billion, up by 27.4% from the same month last year, although it decreased 1.1% on a month-on-month basis.
In the first five months, the country's grand total of its export and import values hit USD2,975.08 billion, up by 19.2% from the same period of 2025, according to the GACC.
Its export value amounted to USD1,713.40 billion, up 15.5%, and its import value totaled USD1,261.69 billion, a jump of 24.5%, the GACC also shows.
