Guangzhou (JLC), November 7, 2024--China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) and Petroliam Nasional Berhad (PETRONAS) signed a strategic cooperation Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on November 6, CNPC reported on its official news website.

The MoU was signed in a ceremony that took place in Shanghai on the same day by CNPC chairman Dai Houliang and PETRONAS president Tengku Muhammad Taufik Tengku Aziz.

Through the MoU, the two companies will deepen and expand the cooperation in fields such as the exploration and development of international oil and gas, the LNG value chain, new energy, green hydrogen technology, digitization, and so on, according to CNPC. The agreement will also see them explore new cooperative modes and business areas.

CNPC and PETRONAS have been cooperating for more than 10 years and have deepened their relationship in the LNG business in recent years. On April 17, 2023, the two signed their first medium-to-long-term LNG purchase and sale agreement.

In the meantime, CNPC has also been expanding cooperation with other overseas companies, CNPC said on its official news website.

During the seventh China International Import Expo (November 5-10, 2024), CNPC signed 27 procurement contracts with 26 partners from around the world, with the total amount reaching 17.3 billion dollars.

CNPC hosted the seventh CNPC International Cooperation Forum on November 6, at which it also sealed purchase agreements with partners, including Saudi Aramco, TotalEnergies, and SLB.
