China's CPI up 0.3% yoy in October, PPI deflation persists

Guangzhou (JLC), November 11, 2024 – China's consumer price index (CPI), a main gauge of inflation, rose 0.3% year on year in October, narrowing from a 0.4% growth in September, data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) showed.

 

On a month-on-month comparison, the CPI was down 0.3% in October, the NBS data showed.

 

In January-October, the CPI was up 0.3% year on year, the NBS data showed.

The core CPI, which excludes food and energy prices, rose by 0.2% year on year in October, up from a 0.1% growth in September.

 

Factory-gate price deflation persists

China's producer price index (PPI), which measures factory-gate goods prices, fell 2.9% year on year in October, compared to a 2.8% decrease in September, the NBS data showed.

 

On a month-on-month comparison, the PPI dropped 0.1% in October, narrowing from a 0.6% decline in September, the NBS data indicated.
