Guangzhou (JLC), January 14, 2025--China's total value of imports and exports of goods grew 5.0% year on year to 43.85 trillion yuan in 2024, data from the General Administration of Customs of the PRC (GACC) showed.
Exports of goods reached 25.45 trillion yuan in the year, a rise of 7.1% from the year before, the data showed.
At the same time, imports of goods stood at 18.39 trillion yuan, increasing by 2.3% year on year.
The trade surplus hit 7.06 trillion yuan in 2024, a leap of 18.0% from 2023, the GACC data showed.
The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) remained China's top trading partner last year.
China's trade with ASEAN climbed by 9.0% year on year to 6.99 trillion yuan in 2024, accounting for 15.9% of the country's total foreign trade. Its exports to ASEAN soared by 13.4% to 4.17 trillion yuan, and its imports from ASEAN gained 3.2% to 2.82 trillion yuan.
The country's trade with the European Union (EU), China's second-largest trading partner, rose 1.6% year on year to 5.59 trillion yuan, taking up 12.8% of the country's total foreign trade. Its exports to the EU increased by 4.3% to 3.68 trillion yuan, but imports from the partner decreased by 3.3% to 1.92 trillion yuan.
Meanwhile, China's trade with the USA swelled by 4.9% to 4.90 trillion yuan, with its exports to the USA up 6.1% to 3.73 trillion yuan and imports from the USA up 1.2% to 1.16 trillion yuan, the GACC said.
In December alone, China's total foreign trade was 4.07 trillion yuan, going up by 8.5% month on month and 6.8% year on year, the GACC also said.
