Guangzhou (JLC), October 15, 2024--China's foreign trade reached a historical high in the first three quarters of 2024, according to the latest data from the General Administration of Customs of the PRC (GACC).

China's total imports and exports of goods stood at CNY32.33 trillion ($4.55 trillion) in the first nine months, a rise of 5.3% from the same months in 2023, the GACC data shows.

In breakdown, export value of goods increased by 6.2% year on year to CNY18.61 trillion ($2.62 trillion) in the period, while import value of goods gained 4.1% to CNY13.71 trillion ($1.93 trillion).

The country's foreign trade maintained steady growth in the first three quarters of this year, with each quarter surpassing CNY10 trillion, Wang Lingjun, a vice minister from the GACC, said at a news conference on October 14.

In September alone, China's total foreign trade was CNY3.75 trillion ($525.71 billion), slipping by 0.1% month on month but inching up by 0.7% year on year, the GACC data also indicates.
