Guangzhou (JLC), November 9, 2023 – China's consumer price index (CPI), a main gauge of inflation, fell 0.1% in October compared with the previous month, data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) showed on November 9.
On a year-on-year comparison, the CPI dropped 0.2% in October.
In January-October 2023, the CPI was 0.4% higher than in the corresponding period of 2022, the NBS data showed.
Meanwhile, China's producer price index (PPI), which measures factory-gate goods prices, remained flat on a month-on-month basis in October, the NBS data indicated.
On a year-on-year comparison, however, the PPI dropped 2.6% in October.
In January-October 2023, the PPI was 3.1% lower than in the corresponding period of 2022, the NBS data showed.
